United Business Technologies has recognized for years the importance of doing our part to minimize the environmental impact of the document management industry. As an independent company with the flexibility to make our own decisions we are able to partner with whomever we choose. We based our decision to work with the products that we do, not only because of their superior technological capabilities and proven reliability, but because of their efforts to minimize their carbon footprint as well.
When UBT chose to relocate its sales office in 2007, one of the deciding factors was the energy efficiency of the building and the environmental responsibility of the management company. After months of due diligence a site was selected that aligned with UBT’s desire to continue to minimize environmental impact. We also continue to be in constant contact with our site management team to increase recycling programs and advance energy saving technological changes.
Every day, we at United Business Technologies, continue our ongoing efforts to do our part for the environment by offering complimentary cartridge recycling for both printers and copiers. Given the nature of our business, we believe that environmental responsibility is an example that we must set, not just follow. Our partners are chosen with as much consideration for their position on this increasingly important topic as they are for the quality of their products.
Reduction of CO2 Emissions Life Cycle Assessment System
o imageRUNNER ADVANCE models are the first to implement Canon’s Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) system.
o Assesses and seeks to control carbon emissions at each lifecycle stage. Through this system, overall carbon emissions are reduced by more than 30%.
o Equates to 1.33 tons per device (or carbon absorption of 95 trees) per year.
Maximizing Energy Efficiency
o Canon was energy partner of the year in 2011 and from January 1, 2012 until June 30, 2012 Canon will plant a tree in a deforested area for every imageRUNNER Advance model sold.
o All models are ENERGY STAR Qualified
o Power consumption during Sleep Mode has been Reduced to 1W or less for imageRUNNER ADVANCE C7000 and C5000 Series 1.5W or less for imageRUNNER ADVANCE C9000 PRO Series
o Energy Star TEC (Typical Energy Consumption) has been reduced by up to 75% as compared to predecessor models
Use Bio-based plastics and 100% Recycled Plastics
o imageRUNNER ADVANCE devices incorporate bio-plastic on certain exterior parts.
o Bio-based plastics use an environment conscious material that incorporates plant-based and organic components.
o First bio-based exterior plastic applicable for use in MFPs with world’s highest level of flame resistance.
o Reduces dependent on petroleum-based plastic.
o Certain exterior parts use 100% Recycled Plastic materials.
o Canon employs various recycling processes to treat collected plastic resulting in a recycled plastic with the same level of impact strength and flame resistance as in new products.
o Recycled plastic has the effect of reducing carbon dioxide emission by 94% compared with new plastic.
