Tips and Tricks: Using Secure Print for Windows

Secure Print is a function that enables you to protect confidential documents from other users. To use secure print, you must enter a PIN/password to start a print job. The PIN/password is first set at your desktop prior to sending the print job to the machine.

1.      To set the password for the document to print complete the following steps:

a.      Select [Print] from the [File] menu of the application software you are using for the document to print.

b.      Display the [Print] dialog box > Click [Properties].

c.       Select [Secured Print] from the [Output Method].

d.      Click [Yes] on the dialog box to set the user information for the Secured Print mode.

e.      Enter a username and password à Click [OK].

f.        Click [OK] to close the printer driver screen à click [OK] in the [Print} dialog box.

g.      Confirm the user name and password > click [OK].

 

2.      To release a Secure Print document from the Canon machine complete the following steps:

a.      Press [Secure Print].

 i.      If secure print is not displayed press [Show All].

b.      Press [My Job Status] or [Job Status].

c.       Select the document that you want to print > press [Secure Print].

d.      Select and print the document (print data).

             i.      Enter the PIN using the numeric keys.

ii.      Press [OK].
